Cathedral Square’s oldest building, Christchurch’s old chief post office, could become a hospitality hub.
Owner Gordon Chamberlain confirmed that, despite drawn-out paperwork, the process to get the building repaired and reopened had “begun in earnest”.
The job would involve repairing the facade and clock tower, strengthening the building, replacing the roof and internal changes not affecting heritage elements. The work will take two years.
