• Over half of the houses in a Wellington study are dangerously damp and one in eight have major maintenance problems.

Research by Victoria University has analysed a sample of 70 standalone houses from 12 years of building inspections done by Buildsure Associates.

Co-author of the paper, Nigel Isaacs, a senior lecturer at Victoria’s school of architecture, said the concern was that many of the houses had potential health and safety issues.
