The notorious owners of a small town cafe in Canterbury will be packing up and leaving as a local couple give it a new lease of life.
Springfield Store & Cafe hit international attention in June after Stuff revealed it had scathing reviews and a visit from police offering customer service advice.
Some of the reviews likened the cafe in Springfield, a rural town west of Christchurch, to Fawlty Towers, a British sitcom about a bad hotel, describing the owners as grumpy and abusive.
