- Ruha St has been confirmed as the site Palmerston North city councillors want for the new $7.4 million cycle and pedestrian bridge across the Manawatu River.
They were unanimous in a decision to go ahead with detailed designs for the bridge despite hearing a range of objections from the community.
Traffic management remained an issue councillors wanted to be studied further to ensure people could get to and from the approach safely without disrupting the neighbourhood.
Further consideration will also be given to whether the bridge should be lit, and whether a $280,000 viewing bay halfway across should be included.
