PHOTO: BARFOOT & THOMPSON – Despite a partial kitchen, this Sandringham house sold at auction for $1.6 million

It was possibly the worst house on the street but that didn’t stop a run-down home in the central Auckland suburb of Sandringham fetching $1.65 million at auction recently.

The four-bedroom, one-bathroom house sat on a 569 square metre section and was located in the highly sought-after Mount Albert Grammar School and Auckland Girls Grammar school zone

Described in its listing as “the definition of ‘original condition'”, the home featured a partially-ripped out kitchen, peeling wallpaper and an interior layout described as “up for discussion”.
