PHOTO: Buying a house on Auckland’s expensive North Shore can be done, a seasoned real estate agent says.

A seasoned real estate agent is offering hope, of sorts, for people wanting to buy a first home on Auckland’s pricey North Shore.

The Government’s Housing Affordability Measure, released on June 13, showed 85 per cent of North Shore renting households would be unable to comfortably afford a home in the cheapest 25 per cent of their area.

Pauline Horne, Lochore’s Birkenhead branch manager, who runs a first-time home buyers seminar, said there are ways people could beat the odds and get into the housing market.
