Storage sheds proposed for those downsizing to smaller properties in Marlborough could be too brightly lit and noisy for nearby houses, a resident says.
Colonial Vineyard Limited asked to build a vehicle storage facility in Omaka Landing, off Aerodrome Rd, last year, hoping to encourage Blenheim residents onto smaller and more affordable sections by allowing their boats, furniture and caravans to be stored nearby.
A resident opposed the plan, concerned the facility did not suit its residential location. The Marlborough District Council also opposed the facility, saying it could put pressure on Blenheim’s existing stormwater system.
At an online hearing before an independent commissioner, Aerodrome Rd resident David McFarlane said the land was zoned residential, not commercial, so the proposal should not be allowed.
