A young woman was forced to shelter in a bath as a tornado tore through her north Auckland home.

Eden Tudman, 20, described debris hitting her in the head as she “dived” into the bath late on Friday night.

“I just curled into a ball and waited for it to stop.”

Moments before, Tudman had been sitting in the lounge of her Dairy Flat home when it began to shake

“The winds were getting really, really strong.”

“The windows smashed and then everything flew and got taken away.”

Tudman said she did not know what to do and was looking where to go as she ran down the hallway.
