A cocktail of curiosity and the unknown has prompted a small group of volunteers to build a container house.
It took the Hunterville Lions Club more than 300 hours to transform a 40-foot shipping container that has carried cargo all over the south Pacific into a one-bedroom cabin to be auctioned on Sunday.
The idea came from one of its members, Hamish Cavanagh, who retrieved the container from Napier Port.
Only months before, Cavanagh had renovated and connected two cabins he hired as weekend accommodation on his farm near Vinegar Hill.
