Each week, Rooms to Rent reporter Mikaela Wilkes talks to Kiwi renters about what they get for their money.
“This is our first house together since he’s been born,” said single mother Sarah White, who rents a three-bedroom home in Te Atatatu Peninsula with her 4-year-old son, Roman.
White works as a sales account director in Ponsonby, a 30 minute commute away.
“Before this we were living in Beachlands with my parents, in a granny flat. We moved because it was too hard getting anywhere from there.”
Although she admits, “$500 a week in rent is a lot for one person.”
