A 110-year-old villa where Sir Edmund Hillary spent his childhood has sold for $1.348 million under the hammer.
The four-bedroom home was built in 1910 and belonged to Hillary’s maternal grandmother, Harriet Clark.
In 2014, it was moved from Mt Eden to a 3000 square metre section in north Auckland’s Warkworth.
On Wednesday, it was auctioned off after a bidding war as two buyers went head to head.
