New Zealand’s former prime minister Sir John Key and his wife Lady Bronagh became Sydney’s newest high-end home owners this past week when they took possession of an A$5.7 million (NZ$6.05 million) harbourside apartment in McMahons Point.
But the Auckland-based couple are not expected to take up residence in the 129-square-metre pad despite having already waited three years for it to be complete since buying it off the plan.
No sooner did Lady Bronagh settle on her new three-bedroom home than Ray White Lower North Shore agents Tim Abbott and David Gillan have put it back up for grabs, this time for the 2020 price of $6.5 million to $7 million.
Sir John made the shock decision to quit NZ’s top job and politics altogether in 2016, and the following year the couple sold their Auckland mansion on a two-year settlement for $23.5 million to little-known Lianzhong Chen.
