Sir John Key and his wife Bronagh have sold their high-end Sydney home for more than AU$6 million (NZ$6.4 milion), despite officially owning the luxury pad for only six weeks.
The former Prime Minister and Bronagh waited three years to take the keys to the harbourside home after buying it off the plan in early 2017. Following its completion, the couple settled on the apartment in April this year – but it was already up for the grabs by the following day.
Located in the affluent McMahons Point neighbourhood, the three-bedroom apartment was listed by North Shore-based Ray White agents Tim Abbott and David Gillan for AU$6-$6.5 million. The Keys reportedly paid about AU$5.7 million.
According to the property’s listing on domain.com.au, the exact details of the sale – which was completed on Wednesday – remain undisclosed. However, given the speed of the transaction, it’s believed to have sold within the asking price parameter.
After Sir John Key resigned from his role as New Zealand’s leader in 2016, the couple sold their Auckland mansion on a two-year settlement to Lianzhong Chen for $23.5 million.
