Two Marlborough tenants have complained to authorities the insulation in their rentals is not up to new standards, as companies deal with a flood of landlords wanting to fit insulation at the last minute.

New insulation standards came into effect on July 1, three years after the National Government’s law change meant all rental properties if practical had to have underfloor and overhead insulation.

Absolute Energy Ltd Managing Director Paul Brockie said the company, which operates across the top of the South Island, had a six week wait list for insulation to be fitted.
