The government’s tenancy watchdog has stepped in to make a controversial Auckland property manager lodge his tenants’ bond money.
The Tenancy Compliance and Investigation Team (TCIT) also confirmed Daljit Grewal was no longer operating as a landlord in New Zealand.
Grewal was the subject of a Stuff investigation after he raised the ire of tenants and owners across south Auckland with his business Easy Rent Shop, which appeared to target beneficiaries.
Complaints included that he failed to lodge bonds, answered pleas for repairs with eviction threats, and ignored Tenancy Tribunal decisions ordering him to pay compensation.
