• A small business-owning couple say a $2 million victory over Rich List hotel magnates following a 10-year legal battle has changed their lives.

Brigit and Brian Lawrence operated a Rotorua motel owned by the Pandey family in the mid-2000s, but their business failed when the property was beset with plumbing problems which the Pandeys refused to fix.

Despite a 2011 court order that the Rich Listers pay the Lawrences over $1m in compensation the couple never received a penny.
