Bankstown-born retired Socceroo Brett Emerton has bought a Lilyfield apartment block with Harbour Bridge and city skyline views for $10.2 million.
Updated property records for a 1970s era block of 18 flats at 31-33 Maida St show a company owned by Emerton and his wife, Sarah, snapped them up on February 28.
When contacted, 1st City principal Brad Caldwell-Eyles, who shared the listing with co-founder Julian Hasemer, advised the annual net income from the units was $340,000 per year.
Emerton, who resides in a huge home with city skyline views on Denham Court’s prestigious Fox Valley Rd on a 5ha block bought for $1.6 million in 2006, was an important member of Australia’s “Golden Generation” that played in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.
He retired from competitive football in 2014 after a successful career overseas that included 10 seasons with Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League.
He also spent three seasons at Dutch giants Feyenoord.
The star midfielder played 95 times for Australia.
He told The World Game three years ago: “I also have a huge interest in properties in which I invested a lot of money while I was playing and I have spent some time managing them.”
