A large social housing development in central Wellington has been delayed and may require Government help to get off the ground.

A failed partnership bid and funding issues have hit the Wellington City Council’s plans for phase two of a development to build more affordable housing on a section of its Arlington site.

The site, which spans Arlington St, Hopper St and Hankey St, represents 12 per cent of the council’s entire housing portfolio and is the biggest project in the council’s Housing Upgrade Programme.
