A pristine South Island high country station has been sold to a foreign businessman, who must move to New Zealand to hold on to it.

Mt White Station, near Arthur’s Pass, has been sold to Czech-born Lukas Travnicek – a New Zealand permanent resident.

The businessman’s company, Southern Ranges Ltd, was given consent to acquire the 40,000 hectare high-country sheep and beef farm by the Overseas Investment Office (OIO), part of Land Information New Zealand (Linz), it was announced on Tuesday.
