A south-western Sydney real estate agent has been jailed for 12 months for fraud after admitting to withholding $90,000 in sale deposits.
Jatinder Singh Sahota was sentenced in Parramatta Local Court earlier this month to 12 months’ imprisonment, to be served by way of an intensive correction order, which will see him perform 200 hours of community service work. He was also ordered to pay $93,000 in compensation.
The order will require him to submit to supervision by a community corrections officer.
Singh Sahota, a selling agent of Jovan Real Estate Pty Ltd, which ASIC has since proposed to deregister, was charged with fraudulently withholding $90,000 in property deposits, which arose from the failed sale of two properties in the suburb of Miller in south-western Sydney across 2016 and 2017.
