Soaring Auckland property prices have hit suburbs traditionally at the lower end of the price bracket.
A 1950s three-bedroom weatherboard house in Allen Street, Mangere East with a CV of $660,000 has sold at auction this week for $1,152,000.
Listing agent Chintamani Abyankar of Barfoot & Thompson says he believes it could be a record price for a three-bedroom house in the suburb. But CoreLogic says records show two or three others have fetched similar figures, although it is rare.

Abyankar says there was a lot of interest in the 839 square metres property because it has development potential, being zoned for Mixed Housing Urban under the Unitary Plan.
