Taranaki’s most controversial building has been voted the best in the region – but also one of the worst.
The gleaming stainless steel-fronted Len Lye Centre, in the heart of New Plymouth, has always divided local opinion.
And that certainly proved to be the case when Stuff asked people to name the best and worst buildings in the province, and then put those nominations to a vote.
Just over a quarter – 27 per cent – of people picked the Len Lye Centre as their number one.
But not far off the same number – 23 per cent – picked it as one of the worst.
