OPINION: Landlords have gained a reputation for being miserly characters with pots of money and little compassion.
Perhaps that’s an accurate description of some, but of the many, many property investors I deal with, it’s grossly unfair.
They’re hard-working middle-class Kiwis, who are stretching themselves to get ahead, or more often – to bridge the yawning gap in their retirement savings.
That’s worth keeping that in mind when considering the likely changes to investment property taxation.
