Teachers’ college to rest home

Wellington’s former teachers’ college will become a retirement village.

Ryman Healthcare on Tuesday confirmed it had bought the site off Victoria University to turn it into a retirement village.

A retirement village has long been speculated for the site, but a private sale was battled by the Ministry of Education and Wellington City Council – both who fought to keep it in public hands.
