Two South Auckland tenants that left behind holes in the ceiling, cat faeces on the carpet and piles of rubbish when they were evicted, must pay their former landlord $5881.
Wynne Garnie and Pele La’aloi Akeripa had been renting Rakesh Prakash’s South Auckland house for almost two years until they were evicted in August 2018.
Both the landlord and tenants made claims for compensation and exemplary damages to the Tenancy Tribunal last year.
The tenants claimed their eviction was unlawful, that the landlord failed to provide a clean house, and keep correct business records.
