An Auckland landlord failed to tell its property manager and tenants a woman had been raped, murdered and set fire to inside the house.
Tenants David and Carol Prescott “prematurely” broke their fixed-term tenancy at the property in View Rd, Glenfield, in June after a neighbour divulged its violent history.
Landlord Four Squared Limited failed to disclose a “violent” homicide and “arson incident” occurred in 2010, a recently released Tenancy Tribunal decision said.
The tribunal said a landlord must disclose material and significant conditions concerning a property when renting it out.
