The Herald Sun reveals exciting plans for The Block‘s upcoming season: a shift towards carbon neutrality! According to paperwork filed with the Hepburn Shire Council, the show’s next season will feature five luxury houses on vacant farmland in Daylesford’s Raglan Street, country Victoria.

The proposed development outlines five architect-designed, fossil fuel-free, and carbon-neutral five-bedroom homes. Each house will boast a mezzanine, rumpus room, heated swimming pool, and al fresco areas as part of the layout. Julian Brenchley of Group Architects, The Block’s regular architect, is listed as a joint applicant for this project. Daylesford, located approximately 110km away from Melbourne, is a popular weekend destination for city dwellers seeking a relaxing getaway.
In the previous season, The Block faced intense competition and a controversial auction. To make things even more challenging for the next line-up of contestants, they will be required to build separate granny flats in addition to their family homes. With a substantial prize money of $100,000 at stake, the competition will undoubtedly be fierce. Last season’s winners, Omar and Oz, walked away with a record-breaking profit of $1,686,666.66.

Meanwhile, Scott Cam, the show’s host, has earned a nomination for the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter at the TV Week Logie Awards. Competing against other popular presenters like Hamish Blake, Julia Morris, Shaun Micallef, Sonia Kruger, and Tony Armstrong, Cam’s recognition comes as no surprise given his previous accolades, including the Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter and the prestigious Gold Logie for Most Popular Australian TV Personality, which he received in 2014.
As the excitement builds for the upcoming carbon-neutral season, The Block is also in the running for the titles of Most Popular Reality TV program and Most Outstanding Reality Program at the Logie Awards. The show’s commitment to sustainable building practices is indeed making headlines and setting a positive example for reality TV programs in the industry.
