Three teams spent 12 gruelling weeks working for nothing on The Block NZ: Firehouse, having come away from the live auction with no cash because their apartments failed to exceed the reserve or did not sell.
“Outsiders” Lisa Ridout-Gordon and Christopher Gordon (Ribz) in Apartment 2, won the auction on Sunday, September 8, but Lisa described the win as “bittersweet”.
The Wellington couple, whose efforts were largely panned by the judges, are taking home $150,000. They received $100,000 plus the $50,000 their apartment received above the reserve price. It sold for $1.34 million.
Stacy Heyman and Adam Middleton’s heritage apartment (Apartment 1) failed to sell at auction, having been passed in at $1.44 million. However, it sold later in the night for $1.48 million, which was the reserve.
