Travers ‘Candyman’ Beynon, the prominent tobacco magnate of the Gold Coast, is putting up for sale his renowned party residence, the infamous “Candy Shop Mansion.” The multimillionaire entrepreneur, who serves as the owner and managing director of the Freechoice tobacco chain, is bidding farewell to this trophy home to embark on a new journey with the impending arrival of his baby boy in 2024.

The “Candy Shop Mansion” in Helensvale has been a Gold Coast sensation for over a decade, attracting attention with its extravagant annual parties. Pre-pandemic, the mansion regularly hosted large gatherings, such as the 2018 event that led to Candyman receiving a $13,000 council fine over complaints about a colossal topless Virgin Mary statue.

Known for its major street appeal, the mansion boasts a 21-car garage, a 250,000L infinity pool with a swim-up bar, a grotto, and a 27-tonne King Neptune statue. The lavish parties held at this residence earned Candyman a reputation as a legendary figure in the Glitter Strip social scene.

Earlier this year, the 51-year-old made a bold return to the social scene by organizing the “wildest party in the world” on Australia Day. Candyman, self-styled as a “playboy,” gained fame through internet showcases of his opulent lifestyle and numerous connections with women. Initially an Australian Rules player in his youth, he turned to modeling after a career-ending injury in football.

The vibrant businessman now oversees a substantial property portfolio and a chain of tobacconist shops. Real estate agent Evan Molloy of Hope Island Realty is handling the sale of Candyman’s property. In a social media post, Molloy shared the news of Candyman’s decision to sell the “Candy Shop Mansion,” describing it as “unapologetically bold and extravagant” and an iconic estate on the Gold Coast’s coveted waterfront.

Situated on a 5647sq m riverfront block, the mansion features Mediterranean-inspired exteriors with ivy-clad finishes and intricate mosaic murals. Acquired by Mr. Beynon in 2010, he expanded the property in 2014 by purchasing a neighboring section, tripling its size. The 2230sq m floorplan encompasses 14 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a lavish office, and multiple entertaining areas suitable for both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations.

The property is now available for purchase through expressions of interest, adding to a significant year of sales on the Gold Coast, where properties like the Southport mansion Alston and an Isle of Capri mansion achieved record-breaking auction prices of $24.8 million and $24 million, respectively.
