Following the passing of founder Kevin Carlin, the company that owned and operated Queenstown‘s esteemed Carlin Boutique Hotel has entered receivership.

BDO Christchurch has confirmed that Carlin Hotel Property Management Limited and Queenstown Views Villas Limited were placed under receivership as of Monday.
Operating The Carlin Boutique Hotel Queenstown, Carlin Hotel Property Management Ltd finds itself amidst this financial situation.
Kevin Carlin, an American immigrant who embraced Queenstown as his home, passed away at the age of 69 in December, reportedly due to natural causes.
The $30 million hotel stood as his retirement project, completed in 2022 with his vision of surpassing a five-star experience.
To build the seven storey Carlin Boutique Hotel it was necessary to dig a $3.5 million hole in the ground.

In a reassurance to guests, the receivers have stated that the hotel will maintain normal operations.
“All stakeholders, including staff, suppliers, contractors, and service providers, will continue to receive timely compensation for goods and services rendered post-receivership,” the statement assured.
The receivers intend to explore potential buyers for the companies and their assets, with an initial receivers’ report expected by May 3.
