Channel 9 has had huge success with Underbelly in the past – but the latest instalment, which aired last night, has fans fuming.
The latest season of Underbelly has been trashed with fans claiming it was “painfully slow” and questioned why Melissa Caddick narrated the loss of her foot.
This mini-series of the crime show, titled ‘Vanishing Act’ focuses on the exploits of Sydney conwoman Melissa Caddick. She disappeared a day after authorities raided her $6.8 million Dover Heights house, an affluent area in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, on November 11, 2020.
The real-life mystery captured the imaginations of all Australians who wondered what happened to the wealthy 49-year-oldm after she ran a Ponzi scheme that saw her allegedly embezzle more than $30 million from her 60 clients.

While accruing her millions illegally she lived lavishly wearing designer clothes and driving expensive cars.
She has not been seen since November 12, but a foot belonging to her washed ashore on a south coast beach on February 21, 2021. At this time police declared she had died.
As the mystery unfolded it seemed it was only a matter of time for TV producers deliver it on the small screen.
However, the show was slammed when it aired on Channel 9 on Sunday night.

“I was so looking forward to a new Underbelly series, struggling with this one – anyone else sticking it,” Katherine Hornbuckle posted on Twitter.
Another user said: “I really wanted to like this one, but I don’t”
Others were more scathing.
“This Underbelly series is both painfully slow and also like its missing integral scenes regarding ASIC and how they came to be aware of his scam,” a man posted on Twitter.
“This already looks like a pile of shit,” another added.
However, among the viewers, some thought Caddick’s disappearance was an elaborate ruse to evade punishment for her crimes.
“Melissa Caddick is sitting somewhere in Switzerland drinking wine with her new prosthetic foot watching an episode of Underbelly about her,” another woman wrote.
The series began bizarrely with former Wentworth actor Kate Atkinson, who is playing Caddick, asking the viewers to question the story told to the public by police.
“Supposedly in November I‘d jumped off a cliff near my house in Sydney after I got busted and freaked out,’ she said.
“If you believe that story then you will believe anything.
