💥 “We’re Done.” NZ & Aussie Property News Portal Pulls the Plug on Major Social Media Channels

24 April 2025 — In a bold move shaking up the digital real estate landscape, The Property Noise Group—parent brand of propertyNoise.co.nz, propertyNoise.com.au, fergscoffee.co.nz, and thedatacompany.kiwi—has officially announced it is leaving social media platforms X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and TikTok effective immediately.

📢 “We’re proud of our content. But we’re not proud of what these platforms have become,” said a spokesperson for the group in today’s statement.

🧨 Why We’re Stepping Away from Social Media

Similar to Stuff NZ, the decision is driven by escalating concerns around:

  • 🧠 Algorithm-driven misinformation

  • 💣 Toxic discourse and abusive behaviour

  • 🔍 Lack of credible news visibility

  • 📉 Declining value for audience engagement

“These platforms have become echo chambers where outrage outperforms accuracy. We’d rather invest in honest, high-quality (but fun) content via channels we control,” the spokesperson added.

📍 Where You Can Still Find Us

While we’re signing off from social, we’re ramping up our commitment to independent, ad-supported journalism and original property insights, alongside our other brands:

Platform Status Reason for Exit
Facebook ❌ Removed Algorithm bias, low trust
Instagram ❌ Removed Toxicity, low ROI
X (Twitter) ❌ Removed Abuse, misinformation
TikTok ❌ Removed Low journalistic integrity
Threads ❌ Removed Fails to support content discovery

📰 We’re Doubling Down on Quality, Not Clicks

🔍 No bots, no trolls—just the property, lifestyle, and economic insights that matter to our readers across New Zealand and Australia.
