Porn Star Slams Bank for Rejecting Her Home Loan Due to Her OnlyFans Career
A New Zealand content creator has called out a major bank after her mortgage application was rejected based on her source of income, despite earning over $250,000 per year from her OnlyFans account.
From Banking to OnlyFans Success
Layla Kelly, 34, previously worked as a banker earning $65,000 annually before transitioning to a career in adult content creation. What started as a part-time hobby quickly turned into a highly lucrative business, allowing her and her husband, who assists with filming and editing, to save a six-figure deposit for their dream home.
Despite their financial security, the couple faced a shocking hurdle when applying for a mortgage last November.
Bank Rejects Mortgage Application Over Job Title
Ms. Kelly’s mortgage broker submitted applications to multiple banks, seeking the best loan terms. However, one bank outright refused to assess her application after learning she was in the adult industry.
Initially, she listed her occupation as ‘content creator’, but the bank requested further clarification. When she disclosed her OnlyFans career, she was told to reclassify her occupation as ‘sex work’—only for the bank to immediately decline her application.
‘It Feels Like Financial Discrimination’
Expressing her frustration, Ms. Kelly described the rejection as financial discrimination, arguing that she is a legitimate taxpayer contributing to New Zealand’s economy.
“I was shocked and angry. It feels like financial discrimination, but apparently, in New Zealand, banks can refuse loans based on someone’s job. A lot of Kiwis fall under this category, and we all pay tax—heaps of tax.”

A Win After Rejection
Fortunately, Ms. Kelly was able to secure a loan from another bank and successfully purchased a home in Wellington. However, the initial rejection left a bitter taste.
“If it’s a moral issue—though moral issues shouldn’t enter banking—do they also reject businesses that sell cigarettes or gambling products?” she questioned.
“If my money’s not good enough for you, then I don’t want to bank with you anyway.”

A Growing Debate on Financial Fairness
The incident raises broader concerns about financial discrimination against those working in legal but stigmatized industries. As digital content creation continues to grow, banks may need to reassess their policies to ensure fair treatment of all income earners.
