PHOTO: MARTIN HUNTER – Teachers tend to love the classroom teaching part of their job but are overwhelmed by all their other responsibilities.

After nearly 30 years as a teacher and leader I have made the huge decision to leave a profession for which I have always felt great pride and passion.

I left because I was frustrated, tired and unable to adequately provide what I knew was important for the students and for the teachers I was leading and supporting.

Even though I loved my school and was well supported by my board of trustees and principal (with whom I absolutely loved working), I felt like the system was stealing my soul.
