House prices in Timaru and Waimate have gone in different directions during the 12 months to the end of June.
Fifty-six houses were sold in Timaru during June 2019 at a median price of $320,000 compared to 53 at a median of $360,000 in June 2018, latest Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) figures show.
In the Waimate district, however, the median price for residential houses in June was $252,000 compared to $210,000 in June 2018 while the volume of properties sold decreased by two to 11 sales last month. Figures for Mackenzie were not available.
