They don’t make them like this anymore. And that’s a pity, because there’s something very special about a home that has been in the same family for 66 years.

The ’40s brick-and-tile house in Walmer Rd, Point Chevalier has come onto the market because the owner, Joyce, who is in her 90s, has moved into a rest home. Listing agent Xenia Marcroft of Professionals says two sons are selling the property on their mother’s behalf.

“They grew up with that backyard and they have so many memories,” she says. “They used to run through the canopy of trees at the bottom of the section to the reserve beyond.
