According to Weatherzone meteorologist Stephen King, the searing heat will spread from northwest WA, where Carnarvon recorded a scorching 49.9°C earlier this week, to the southeast.

On Thursday, Victoria is expected to swelter, with Melbourne set to experience temperatures of up to 38°C – four degrees hotter than Perth, which bore the brunt of the heatwave this week.
