Trade Me’s Top Property Listings of 2022 Revealed

A home featuring an Olympic-sized equestrian arena, Sir John Key’s mansion and a luxurious European gem in Remuera, have been named Trade Me’s most popular property listings of 2022.

Trade Me Property Sales Director Gavin Lloyd said Kiwi are keen property lovers. “Every year a range of unique listings capture the country’s attention and take out the top spots as our most viewed properties of the year. There is something for everyone on the 2022 list; from a grand lifestyle estate, to an 1890s replica Old West town.

“Galloping into our number one listing with 197,929 views was a one-of-a-kind Christchurch property complete with boutique horse facilities, and listed on the market for the first time in 20 years. Featuring a purpose built Olympic-sized arena, horse jumps and nestled on a generous 20,224 sqm section, this one is an equestrian’s dream.”

Mr Lloyd said Sir John Key’s former slice of paradise came knocking at number two with 170,356 views. “The Parnell mansion with a price tag of $23.5 million is fit for royalty. The seven-bedroom home includes a private gym, theatre, wine cellar, pool and spa and perfectly manicured gardens.”

In third place was another Auckland abode. “One of Remuera’s finest residences with no expense spared garnered 130,543 views. The home was full of European influence and grand scale proportions, including a full-sized floodlit tennis court, 25m heated lap pool, second swimming pool, spa, separate guest house and triple car garaging.

Mr Lloyd said the luxury didn’t stop there. “As expected from a property of this calibre, a further level of appeal is added with a spacious gym, games room, golf simulator and professional basketball hoop.”

“Extravagance came in all different shapes and sizes this year, with a fairy tale log home and an Old West town also making the cut for 2022. A Wanaka house full of magic and charm took out the fifth spot with 87,510 views. The property integrates the very best of North American lodge-style home design. 12 years in the making, this log house is truly a labour of love.

“An Old West town sits at number seven with 76,203 views, ready for you to saddle up and bring your cowboy dreams to life. The town’s fitted out with ten main buildings, including a licensed saloon, courthouse that doubles as a movie theatre, and, of course, a sheriff’s office.

Mr Lloyd said rounding off the top listings for 2022 with 64,201 views and counting is one of Whitford’s most admired lifestyle properties. “This magnificent country home captures not only spectacular views of Rangitoto Island and Hauraki Gulf, but also caught the eye of thousands of Kiwi. This six-bedroom property is still for sale, making it the only one on the list yet to be snapped up.”
