PHOTO: NICHOLAS BOYACK/STUFF – Whare Puare (the house with an open door) was designed by Charles Natusch. He lived in the Belmont property in the early 1900s. It is about to come on to the market and has a rateable valuation of $530,000.
It’s one of Lower Hutt’s most distinctive houses, noticed by many who have driven past it on State Highway 2.
Now Whare Puare – the house with an open door – is on the market, complete with its own stream, three-metre waterfall, and glow worms.
The Belmont home was built in 1905, with a nod to Tudor styling, by designer Lewis Tilleard Natusch, who lived in it with his family until 1923.
