One of the tallest, and ugliest, buildings in Napier looks set for a facelift.
Vero House, the five-storey 1960’s monolith, replete with 1980’s aesthetic modifications, on Tennyson St towers over neighbouring heritage Art Deco buildings.
It’s a sobering reminder of the decades in which many of the city’s architectural treasures were demolished and replaced by less appealing structures.
The vacant building is the subject of a resource consent application that would see it earthquake-strengthened, reclad, and converted into commercial and residential use.
