WITH Chancellor Hammond’s Autumn Budget yielding little for home movers on Monday, this morning’s reports of a slow-down in the growth of house prices in October will perhaps be met with despondency by those who were hoping for fireworks to stimulate a sluggish Autumn housing market.

Figures released this morning by Nationwide reveal that annual house price growth in October slowed to 1.6 per cent, down from 2 per cent in the previous month.

This means that the average house price dropped slightly to £214,534 last month from £214,922 September.
