The Upper Hutt Central Library has been closed immediately after it was found to be earthquake-prone.
New engineering reports had identified earthquake risks in some parts of the public building, Upper Hutt City Council said on Wednesday.
The building will be closed until further notice, with more information expected to be released on Monday.
The council said the closure was a precautionary measure.
