An Upper Hutt couple are upset they were not included in the resource consent process for a new three-storey retirement complex, which they say will block the views from their home.

Mike Saunders and his wife Delys were shocked to learn the full detail of Bupa New Zealand’s planned $24 million, 50-apartment retirement home on the corner of Fergusson Drive and Ward St, almost opposite their home of 50 years.

“The height of it means it is going to completely block out all our views,”  Mike Saunders said.
