Veteran actor Roy Billing, who appeared in Blue Heelers, Packed to the Rafters, Underbelly, The Dish and Jack Irish, has sold his Coogee apartment to return to his homeland of New Zealand.
Coincidentally, the two-bedder at 2/260 Arden Street was bought by a Kiwi couple, who were bidding over the phone while in quarantine in New Zealand.
Nicholas Wise of McGrath Estate agents had three bidders competing for the apartment at Saturday’s auction before it sold for $1.24m.
That’s more than four times the $290,000 that Billing paid for it 13 years ago.
Billing and his wife, Linda Tizard, had initially lived there, but in recent years it was used as a short-term rental property.
They’ve been living between Australia and New Zealand for a while now, but have decided to move their money permanently across The Ditch.
