- One of New Plymouth’s oldest buildings is coming down and there’s no way to stop it.
The demolition of the Masters Ltd building, which most recently housed the Real Tart gallery, has begun despite the best attempts of a neighbouring business owner to at least save the facade of the 1920’s building to preserve the city’s history.
Shaun Conaglen, owner of Jetcharm Barbershop, warned New Plymouth was in danger of losing its character and replacing historic buildings with carparks and “tin sheds everywhere”.
