A year after Civic Square was renamed Te Ngākau, or “the heart”, activity there is down to a murmur.
Capital E, the Civic Administration Building, Town Hall, the Municipal Office Building, and most recently the city library have largely been emptied out for strengthening and construction work, while questions have also been raised about the structural integrity of the nearby City-to-Sea bridge.
Rongotai MP and former deputy mayor Paul Eagle, said Wellingtonians should be “stomping up and down” about the state of Civic Square.
