Drive through any new subdivision and you can get an idea of what’s in vogue for home exteriors.
It’s fair to say in some areas it seems to be all about the colour black (Paerata Rise in Pukekohe is a good example), but that’s not universal.
Judges in the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards went through 330 new houses throughout the country – in all price brackets – and these are the key trends for new homes they noted for 2019. Interestingly, black doesn’t even get a mention, although it is an accent in some of the featured projects.
