This hilltop mansion, formerly owned by the rugby great Jonah Lomu has come on to the market for the first time in 16 years.

It’s a house that’s a talking point for more than one reason – for starters it has a strong sculptural presence on the Maupuia clifftop and can be seen from many parts of Wellington.

But it’s main claim to fame is its former owner. Kiwi rugby legend, the late Jonah Lomu bought the house for just over $1 million at the end of 1999, when he was just 25.

Listing agent Ann Curtis of Bayleys Wellington describes the house in Countess Close as a “blue-chip benchmark” offering “incomparable privacy, panoramic water views and extraordinary single-level living”.
