OPINION: This is a store you can’t miss. Take a left at the Lincoln Road exit on Auckland’s Northwestern Motorway and it’s right there – a gigantic blue box that’s much, much bigger than any other store in New Zealand.

You’ve heard the hype. Well lots of us have, including all the people who drove up from Hamilton and down from Whangarei this past weekend to be there on opening day. Others are simply befuddled by the word Nido and wondering what it is they’ve missed out on.

Well, this is the store that’s taking a steal on Ikea, which has so far appeared to have been all talk and no action. Sure, they say they’re coming, but patience is wearing thin, and Nido is here and open – 9000 people went through in just two days.

This is the entry to Nido, New Zealand's largest store, in Central Drive, Henderson, West Auckland. There are similarities to the entries of Mitre 10 Mega stores and it's no coincidence - Nido owner Vinod Kumar was instrumental in developing that concept.

But is Nido the answer to all our homewares prayers?

Stuff took a tour through the store this week, and the answer is, it may well be, but it’s not there yet. Because the most impressive, and biggest part of the shop hasn’t opened yet.
