- THE pace of property price growth in 2016 was the fastest in seven years.
Nationally property price growth kept on going during December with capital city values up by another 1.4 per cent to result in 10.9 per cent growth for the year.
While its prospects have been a little dim since the resources downturn, it was actually Darwin that was the best performing capital city in the last quarter of the year with its dwelling values up by 5.9 per cent.

And the winner is … Darwin. Darwin recorded the strongest property price growth in the last quarter of 2016.
